Describe the garment before selecting the fabric
State garment type, panels, target fit, required construction, composition, finished GSM, usable width, hand feel, color direction, finish, and quantity by color. When the construction is not fixed, send the garment reference and identify which material decisions may be recommended after review.
Make required behavior measurable
For stretch, recovery, moisture handling, coverage, abrasion, or other required behavior, name the applicable test method, conditioning or treatment, direction where relevant, and buyer acceptance limit. Do not assume that a fiber content or category name confirms a result.
Keep approvals connected
Use a single version-controlled brief for material, garment factory, color, and sample review. Record the required approval stage and information needed by each reviewer before requesting a commercial route.
