A T-shirt fabric brief should define the garment and the material decisions that affect cutting, appearance, hand feel, and buyer approval. The brief is more useful when it separates fixed values from acceptable ranges and open questions.

Start with the body-fabric construction

Identify whether the construction is fixed, such as single jersey, or whether a visual reference and evaluation criteria should guide the review. State the required fiber composition, finished GSM and tolerance, usable width and tolerance, color standard, face and reverse appearance, and any finish that needs review.

Include garment-specific inputs

Provide target fit, coverage expectation, hand-feel direction, neckband or trim requirements, quantity by color, destination, and physical reference material where available. When a rib trim is required, include its construction, finished dimensions, color standard, and main-fabric cutting for comparison.

Define quality checks before sampling

For each critical requirement, name the method, condition, and buyer acceptance limit. A generic claim such as good stretch, stable width, or good color is not a testable instruction.
